First Time Visitor Guide

Is this the first time you have visited a podiatrist? This handy guide will prepare you for your appointment and help make the most of your time with the foot and ankle expert.


Before your visit:

  • Make a list of your symptoms and questions.
  • Make a list of all medications and any previous surgeries.
  • Gather and bring important medical records and laboratory test reports from other doctors or hospitals (including x-rays, MRIs and lab results).
  • Call before your visit to tell the office if you have special needs.
  • Bring a friend or family member if you think it will be helpful.
  • If your problem involves walking and/or exercise, bring your walking/exercise shoes with you to the appointment.

During the visit:

  • Go over your list of questions. If you do not understand an answer, be sure to ask for further explanation.
  • Take notes and listen carefully.
  • Discuss your symptoms and any recent changes you may have noticed.
  • Talk about all new medications. Ask why it has been prescribed, and how to take it.
  • Describe any allergies.
  • Tell your podiatrist if you are pregnant or if you are trying to get pregnant.
  • Let your podiatrist know if you are being treated by other doctors.

After the visit:

  • Prepare for any tests your podiatrist orders. Ask about what you need to do to get ready, possible side effects, and when you can expect results. Ask when and how the test results will be made available to you.
  • Schedule a follow-up appointment (if necessary) before you leave your podiatrist’s office.
  • Call your podiatrist’s office and ask for your test results if you do not hear from them when you are supposed to.

Do I need a referral from my doctor to see a podiatrist?
No. You do not need a referral from your family doctor to see a podiatrist.
What are my payment options?
We accept Interac, Visa, Mastercard and cash.
We do not do any 3rd party direct billing, except in certain cases for RCMP or DVA members.
What are your office hours?
Monday to Thursday, 8AM – 4PM.
Friday, 8AM – 12PM.

Insurance Policies

Effective January 1, 2002, the Hon. Colin Hansen, Health Minister for the province of BC has issued the following changes to the Medical Services Plan Supplementary Benefits program: Only those MSP beneficiaries with premium assistance status are eligible for a combined annual limit of 10 visits, for physiotherapy, massage therapy, chiropractic, naturopathy and non-surgical podiatry per calendar year. These 10 visits will be partially subsidized by the MSP.

In general, those individuals previously exempt from paying the patient visit charge have premium assistance status. This includes:

  • Income assistance recipients,
  • Convention refugees,
  • Inmates of BC correctional facilities,
  • Individuals enrolled with MSP in the At Home Program,
  • Residents of long term care facilities who are in receipt of the Guaranteed Income Supplements (GIS),
  • Individuals enrolled with MSP as Mental Health Clients,
  • First Nations individuals with valid BC Medical Plan coverage, enrolled through the Non-Insured Health Benefits Program of the First Nations and Inuit Health Branch of Health Canada (Note: Services beyond the maximum of 10 combined visits per year are not benefits of the Non-Insured Health Benefits Program of the First Nations and Inuit Health Branch).

The eligibility of those for whom MSP premiums are paid by the federal government, such as veterans, varies according to the individual, and can be confirmed at the time of your office visit.Our office will check with MSP directly, at the time of your appointment, to check on your eligibility for the benefits noted above.All fees for all other patients, and any premium assistance recipients exceeding these combined 10 visits during the calendar year will be the full financial responsibility of the patient. Payment for all services rendered will be due, in full, upon completion of these services.Surgical podiatry will remain a partially covered benefit for all MSP beneficiaries. The doctor will be pleased to discuss these details on an individual basis, as they will vary according to the specific procedures performed.

Dr. Green is a board certified specialist in foot surgery and as such provides comprehensive medical and surgical care for a wide spectrum of foot and ankle conditions including common to complex disorders and injuries that affect people of all ages. Patients are fully informed about surgical procedures and are encouraged to ask questions and be an integral part of their pre- and post-operative care program. All surgical procedures are done in our modern state-of-the-art private surgical suite. All patients are made comfortable and are allowed to relax with their choice of music, a movie or reading materials throughout the surgical procedure.
